Nobody could tell it more explicit then Jack Nicholson in ‘A few good men’. In this case making his point that only a certain caliber of men could survive out-there where laws were made inferior to ensure safety and survival. The truth is obviously not always a beautiful thing.

Often it is hard, direct and even unnecessary. Many people can’t handle the truth. It’s revealing. And people still like to conceal themselves. The truth makes one vulnerable. Exposed. No way of return. Mysticism is preferred as it allows a way out. Nobody likes to be  put with their back against the wall.

And when the truth is out, it is final. Little room for interpretation. As in the American sworn testimony one promises ‘to speak the truth and nothing but the truth’. It’s holy
and respected. People tend to agree that breaking this vow should by punished by itself.

A fact is not the truth. The truth is rare. It doesn’t exist  in religion. It doesn’t exist in politics. It often does not exist in business. And needless to say that also relationships are often lacking real truth – true love is already a great accomplishment.

The truth tends to be independent of time. However more often seen in past and present – and tough to determine in the future. A long time ago it was Marcus Aurelius who even challenged identifying facts and truth in the present by stating :“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective not the truth.” In case this gets you concerned then lean to the lighter side on Aurelius “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts”.
